Aerial Photographic Data Models

Stages of the Process:

Aloft offers a two-stage system that allows for companies to see when creating a 3D map, and charts of their site. The first stage lets the company navigate through the site using google earth. Stage 2 allows the company to see different types of data maps.

Stage 1:

What do you get? GPS coordinates matched with the photos of your site, so you can fly through the site on Google Earth to see certain areas of the site just by traveling around. A sample of one our sites:

Stage 2:

What do you get? A generated map of various kinds including a dense point cloud, surface model, digital elevation model, orthophoto, and contour map. These models are generated from the various photos we take of an area from a multitude of angles.

Why is this important?

Well, you can collect a wealth of data from these models. For example, you can use volumetrics to tell how much raw material is being taken away from a site over time with the use of multiple flights. Having this imagery for GIS applications is a greatly added benefit to your site photos.
